Allendale Minerals
The Estate is currently undertaking a minerals registration exercise via the Land Registry. This website has been specifically designed to provide additional information about that exercise and about Allendale Estates, primarily for the benefit of people who have received notices of the registration from Land Registry. We have included on this site answers to some of the most frequently asked questions and would ask that you review these before contacting Land Registry, the Estate or its solicitors.
The mineral rights are of a historic nature and arise under various processes. These include the inclosure process, the sale of freehold land and the enfranchisement of manorial copyhold land.
In order to register and protect existing interests, the Estate has made a number of applications to Land Registry. These applications include evidence of title to the interests as well as detailed mapping. As part of this process, Land Registry will often notify affected surface landowners to inform them of the application.
Please note that this registration exercise is not being undertaken as a prelude to any planned mining activity. The Estate is simply registering its existing rights and interests and is not seeking to claim or create anything new.
